Roy Hodgson says that a return to the England national side could be on the cards for goalkeeper Ben Foster.

England manager Roy Hodgson has admitted that he may consider giving on-loan West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Ben Foster an international return.

The 29-year-old, who has been at the Hawthorns under Hodgson this year for a season-long loan from Birmingham City, made himself unavailable for the national side last year but the new Three Lions boss may convince him to make a comeback.

"I'm not really in a position to talk about individual players or the selection of the squad at the moment," said Hodgson. "That's something I need to give consideration to. But Ben Foster will be one of the players under consideration.

"He's always been a good goalkeeper and since we've worked with him at West Brom, we've definitely seen a spiralling of his performances.

"It was a nervous beginning and he conceded one or two goals where he might have done better. But in the latter half of this season he's got stronger."

Hodgson was announced as the permanent England coach yesterday on a four-year deal.
