Jamie Carragher underwhelmed by Premier League title challengers' signings

Jamie Carragher believes that the summer signings of Chelsea's Premier League title rivals would not be good enough to break into the first team at the Blues.

Jamie Carragher has claimed that none of Chelsea's Premier League title rivals' summer signings would get into their first team.

Manchester United added Memphis Depay, Morgan Schneiderlin and Bastian Schweinsteiger to their squad, while Manchester City signed Raheem Sterling and Liverpool bolstered their squad with moves for Christian Benteke and Roberto Firmino.

However, Carragher believes that even Arsenal's acquisition Petr Cech is underwhelming, and has insisted that the chasing pack still have further work to do to close the gap.

He wrote in the Daily Mail: "I've been watching the action in the window unfold and I am yet to see a signing that has made me think 'wow'; for all the money that our clubs now have, we cannot say they have bought someone from the elite.

"It doesn't matter whether you are talking about Bastian Schweinsteiger, Raheem Sterling, Petr Cech or Christian Benteke; none of them are at a level where they would waltz into Stamford Bridge and take the place of those who helped Chelsea become champions last season."

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has claimed that his side's lack of spending could be dangerous to their hopes of retaining the title.
