James Milner welcomes "complete striker" Christian Benteke

Liverpool midfielder James Milner welcomes the signing of Christian Benteke and believes that the Belgian represents a "complete striker".

James Milner has heralded new Liverpool teammate Christian Benteke as the "complete striker" following his £32.5m move from Aston Villa.

The Belgian, who was also linked to Tottenham Hotspur, signed on Wednesday following a lengthy transfer saga.

Reds legend Jamie Carragher questioned whether or not the 24-year-old was the answer, but Milner says that he will thrive at Anfield.

"I'd rather play with him to be honest. He's a pretty complete striker," the ex-Manchester City man, who joined on a Bosman this summer, told Sky Sports News.

"He's got strength and pace, can score with his feet, his head and he's a handful. He's proved that he can score goals in the Premier League.

"It's another great signing for us, we've already got a good squad here and adding players of his quality is a big boost for us again."

Benteke is the third striker signed by Brendan Rodgers this summer, following the arrivals of Roberto Firmino and Danny Ings.
