Sean Dyche coy on Jason Shackell future

Sean Dyche reiterates that Jason Shackell is still very much a Burnley player, but admits that could change before the transfer window closes.

Sean Dyche has denied that Jason Shackell is close to leaving Burnley, but has refused to rule out a move before the end of the transfer window.

Derby County reportedly made a £2m bid for the 31-year-old earlier this summer, but the Clarets are said to have knocked back the offer.

Shackell was not part of Burnley's squad for this evening's 1-0 victory over Rangers, and while Dyche admits that the Englishman could be on his way out, he is still a part of his plans for the new campaign as it stands.

"He's a Burnley player," he told reporters. "I'm not saying that won't change but some of the reports at the moment are way, way off the mark."

Shackell has one year left to run on his current deal at Turf Moor.
