Blackburn Rovers defender Gael Givet has denied suggestions that he refused to play against Swansea City at the weekend.
Rovers boss Steve Kean had revealed that he spoke to the 30-year-old in an attempt to get him to play but Givet was "not in the right frame of mind".
The Frenchman has rubbished his manager's claims, stating that it was Kean's decision alone not to select him.
In a statement, Givet said: "I wish to make it clear that I have never refused to play for Blackburn Rovers.
"It was the manager Steve Kean who decided which players would be selected."
Rovers lost the match 3-0 and are now three points from safety in the Premier League table.
