The doctor in charge of Spanish defender Carlos Puyol's recovery from knee surgery has insisted that the Barcelona star will not be fit to take part in Euro 2012 this summer.
The 34-year-old underwent surgery on Saturday, but there had been some suggestion that he could yet make the European Championships. However, those rumours have been quelled by Dr. Ramon Cugat.
"The goal is to recover well and get to camp in top condition. He cannot go to the Euros - that is common sense," he told El Periodico.
Puyol has 99 international caps to his name.
