Barcelona defender Carlos Puyol has taken to Twitter to thank the fans for their messages of support.
It was confirmed on Tuesday that the 34-year-old will require knee surgery this summer, forcing him out of the Spain squad for Euro 2012.
The news came as a bitter blow for the veteran, but Puyol has revealed that he has put the disappointment behind him.
"Good night! Thank you all for your messages. I'm cheered up, soon at 100%. A big hug!" he tweeted.
It has been reported in some quarters that Puyol will soon announce his international retirement.
