Former Arsenal defender Lauren thinks that they need a striker like David Villa, who will get them more goals and fit in well.

Former Arsenal defender Lauren has insisted that the Gunners need a player like David Villa.

The Spanish international has been linked with a summer move to North London, as well as Juventus, in recent weeks.

None of Arsenal's current strikers has scored more than 11 goals this season, and Lauren thinks that Villa will offer them more in attack.

"Arsenal need a striker like Villa. They need that sort of player," Lauren told La Xarxa.

"Villa can get you 15, 20, 25 goals in a season, and that's what Arsenal need at the moment.

"He'd do brilliantly at Arsenal. He'd combine well with [Nacho] Monreal, [Santi] Cazorla and [Mikel] Arteta. He'd fit in with the Spaniards in the dressing room, and the adaptation period would be very quick."

It is thought that Villa will leave Barcelona at the end of the season, with the Catalans apparently slapping a £17m price tag on the forward.
