Carlo Ancelotti's side made the breakthrough as early as the sixth minute when Jeremy Menez guided his shot into the bottom corner from inside the penalty area.

Marseille were level on the hour when Loic Remy headed the ball on to Andre Ayew, who nodded in past Salvatore Sirigu.

However, they were on terms for all of two minutes as Alex powered a header in from Nene's inviting cross to put PSG back in the lead.

The home side's win was soured in the final minutes when Mohamed Sissoko picked up his second yellow card for a reckless challenge.
