Wayne Rooney's Euro 2016 in doubt?

Wayne Rooney's knee injury may reportedly force him to go under the surgeon's knife, which would thrown his chances of playing at Euro 2016 in doubt.

Wayne Rooney's participation at this summer's European Championships in France is under threat because of the knee injury that he recently sustained, according to a report.

The Manchester United and England skipper picked up the complaint during the 2-1 defeat away at Sunderland earlier this month.

While United manager Louis van Gaal has so far been unable to put a date on Rooney's potential return to action, he did reveal during Friday's press conference that the 30-year-old was wearing a brace in a bid to help repair the ligament damage.

However, The Express claims that if that does not work sufficiently, the striker may be forced to undergo an operation that would likely rule him out of the major international tournament.

The Three Lions face the Netherlands and Germany in friendly matches next month, both of which Van Gaal has revealed Rooney will miss.
