Frank Lampard: 'I haven't spoken to Manchester City about loan extension'

Frank Lampard says that he has had no contact with the Manchester City hierarchy about extending his loan deal at the Etihad.

Former Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has claimed that he has had no contact with the Manchester City hierarchy about extending his loan deal at the Etihad.

The 36-year-old is set to return to parent club New York City FC next month to begin preparations for the new MLS campaign, which gets underway in March.

There have been reports that the Citizens are in the process of extending the ex-England man's spell in Manchester, but Lampard has dismissed the speculation.

Speaking after Man City's win away at Southampton on Sunday, he told reporters: "I haven't spoke to [the board] on that front at all, I've been concentrating week to week and getting fit when I was injured for a while.

"I'm not looking that far ahead. It's nice that they are saying that, it's much better saying that than saying they can't wait for me to go! We'll see what happens about that one."

Lampard scored in Man City's 3-0 win against the Saints at St Mary's, the result putting Manuel Pellegrini's side second in the Premier League at the expense of the South Coast side, who drop to third.
