Vincent Kompany says that Belgium's game against England is the perfect opportunity to show their class ahead of the World Cup 2014 qualifiers.

Belgium captain Vincent Kompany believes that the upcoming game against England is just as important for his team as it is for Roy Hodgson's.

Georges Leekens's men failed to qualify for the tournament in Poland and Ukraine, despite being able to call on such talents as Eden Hazard, Marouane Fellaini and Axel Witsel.

The Manchester City defender believes that Saturday's game at Wembley is the perfect opportunity for his countrymen to show why they are being tipped to qualify for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

"I'm looking forward to this game. If we can win it would cap the season for me," said Kompany.

"I know I won't be going to the Euros but we have such high ambitions for the World Cup. This is an important start for us preparing.

"This game is just as important for us as it is for England."

Kompany enjoyed a fantastic Premier League season for the Citizens, which ended in him hoisting their first league title for 44 years.
