Andy Farrell has added his backing to Stuart Lancaster's bid to become permanent England coach by claiming that the interim boss has restored national pride in the team.

On Sunday, England became the first team to inflict a Six Nations defeat on France in Paris since 2008.

The 24-22 win also made history as Lancaster's men became the first English side ever to win three away games in a Six Nations championship.

Backs coach Farrell, whose son Owen scored 12 of England's points in the win, said: "It's there for all to see. The biggest achievement he has made, without a shadow of a doubt, is he has put the pride back in the England jersey.

"That's not just the squad but throughout the country."

The historic win has kept England in with a slim chance of defending their Six Nations crown next weekend.
