Gareth Bale named Welsh footballer of the year

Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale is voted the Welsh footballer of the year for the fourth time in five years.

Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale has been voted the Welsh footballer of the year.

The 25-year-old has now won the award four times, which breaks Mark Hughes and John Hartson's shared record of three wins.

Bale became the most expensive footballer in history after moving to Madrid last season and helped the club to win the Champions League and the Copa del Rey.

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies was named the young player of the year and Swansea City captain Ashley Williams won the club player of the year award for the fourth season running.
