Swansea City boss Carlos Carvalhal says that he has been working hard to bring in new signings on deadline day, but concedes it is "very difficult" to attract players.

Carlos Carvalhal has admitted that he is desperate to add to his Swansea City squad before the January transfer window closes on Wednesday night.

The 52-year-old has given the Swans a shot in the arm since arriving at the club on December 28, most recently earning back-to-back wins over Liverpool and Arsenal to climb up to 17th place.

Carvalhal has made clear over the last fortnight that he wants more recruits to further bolster his side's survival hopes, however, with no movement in terms of incoming activity thus far.

Reports suggest that Andre Ayew, Lazar Markovic and Andy King all remain on City's radar heading into the final stages of the winter window, and Carvalhal will try his best to get deals over the line before 11pm tonight.

"We are trying, we are fighting," he told talkSPORT. "I have been on the phone since 8 o'clock this morning. Let's see what will happen. We are trying to cover gaps in our team since the beginning but the market is very difficult.

"We know exactly what we are missing and let's see if something happens by the end of the transfer window. I know that everybody is doing their best. If we can receive good players to add to the team, I will be happy. If not, I will not be frustrated or complaining."

Carvalhal admitted after Swansea's 3-1 win over Arsenal on Tuesday night that players have so far been reluctant to join the Prem strugglers.
