Wayne Routledge to miss rest of season after ankle surgery

Swansea City winger Wayne Routledge will miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on a long-standing ankle injury.

Swansea City have confirmed that Wayne Routledge will miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on an ankle problem.

The winger has been battling the injury for a number of weeks and the club are keen to get him back fully fit for the start of next season.

"The 30-year-old has undergone an operation to cure the long-standing injury in order for him to return in time for pre-season training," a statement read on the club's website.

Swansea, who claimed a 3-2 victory over Newcastle United on Saturday, have recalled Modou Barrow from his loan spell at Nottingham Forest to fill the void left in the squad by Routledge's injury.
