Mauricio Pochettino 'could manage England in future'

Mauricio Pochettino insists that he is committed to Tottenham Hotspur at present, but admits that he remains open to the opportunity of managing England one day.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has kept himself open to the opportunity of managing England, but insists that his club commitments are his main priority.

The Three Lions role is currently vacant following Sam Allardyce's departure this week in the wake of The Telegraph's football corruption investigation.

Pochettino, who dismissed reports linking him with his native Argentina in the summer, signed a new five-year contract at White Hart Lane before the season started.

Asked if he would be interested in the England job one day, Pochettino told Sky Sports News: "Yes, why not? In the future, but now it's impossible.

"I have re-signed a new five-year contract here, and I think it's not my moment - not only in England but in Argentina too."

Pochettino led Southampton to eighth spot in the Premier League in 2012-13 before moving to Spurs in 2014, where he helped the North London club to a third-place finish last season.
