Report: Victor Wanyama set for Southampton contract talks

Southampton are reportedly prepared to begin contract talks with midfielder Victor Wanyama.

Southampton have reportedly scheduled contract talks with Victor Wanyama in a bid to secure his services for the foreseeable future.

The Kenyan has been a key player for the Saints since arriving from Celtic in 2013, and his role in midfield is crucial for Ronald Koeman's side following the departure of Morgan Schneiderlin to Manchester United.

The 24-year-old has previously been linked with a move to Arsenal, but the Daily Mail reports that Southampton are hopeful of extending his stay at the club after watching key players leave once again this summer.

Wanyama has made 62 competitive appearances for the club.
