Manchester United legend Jaap Stam is reportedly being eyed up by Championship side Reading to become the club's new manager.
The Royals parted company with Brian McDermott on Friday morning, less than six months after reappointing the ex-Arsenal coach.
Reading could now move quickly to bring in a new boss, as The Mirror claims that Stam - currently a part of Ajax's backroom staff - is the top target of the Berkshire outfit's Thai owners.
A part of Man United's famous treble-winning side of 1999, Stam has since spent three years working as a scout at Old Trafford before taking on roles at Dutch sides FC Zwolle and Ajax, working with Reading's technical director Brian Tevreden during his time in Amsterdam.
