Rangers have won their first match at Ibrox as a newco with a 4-0 victory over East Fife in the first round of the Scottish Communities League Cup.
The Gers romped to victory in front of a crowd of around 38,000 supporters following their recent demotion to the Scottish Third Division.
"For me, it was a real heart-warming experience," chief executive Charles Green told BBC Scotland. "It has been a night to remember. I'm so, so proud to be associated with the turnaround of the club.
"I think it was an act of defiance, but I think it's also that Rangers fans are passionate about the club.
"The Rangers fans have stood by the club and stood up to everything that has been thrown at it."
A brace from Lee McCulloch as well as goals from Dean Shiels and Lee Wallace helped Ally McCoist's side seal the win.
