Ranger manager Ally McCoist thinks that the club will sign striker Craig Beattie in the next 24 hours.

Rangers manager Ally McCoist has said that he is confident that the club will complete a deal for striker Craig Beattie this week.

The former Celtic and Hearts forward is available on a free transfer and has been training with the Gers.

McCoist told the official club website: "I have meetings with (chief scout) Neil Murray and (chief executive) Charles Green tomorrow.

"Charles has spoken to Craig Beattie's agent and he made him an offer. As yet, I have not heard back from him or from Craig but hopefully I will do in the next 24 hours."

The Ibrox boss faces a race against time to put together a squad he is happy with for the new season, with a 12-month transfer embargo coming into effect from September 1.
