Queens Park Rangers boss Harry Redknapp has hinted that he might sign Jermain Defoe on loan in January.
The 32-year-old is reportedly in London amid speculation that a switch from Toronto is on the cards this winter.
The MLS outfit are thought to be keen on shifting the £60,000-a-week striker from their payroll altogether, but Redknapp says that it is a loan move or nothing.
"You never know," he told the Daily Mail when asked about his interest in the former England international. "It is a difficult one because of the whole package.
"We want a couple of loans in. We are looking for loans. We are not looking to spend money in January. We bought some players in the summer and we have a good squad."
Redknapp has signed Defoe for both Portsmouth and Tottenham Hotspur in the past.
