Leicester City have reportedly emerged as the main competition to Queens Park Rangers for the signing of FC Toronto striker Jermain Defoe.
The 32-year-old is said to be desperate to return to English football and the Premier League in particular.
Defoe has previously worked with QPR boss Harry Redknapp at West Ham United, Portsmouth and Tottenham Hotspur.
However, Leicester manager Nigel Pearson wants to use Defoe's experience and goalscoring ability to aid his side's fight against relegation, according to The Sun.
Defoe moved to Toronto from Tottenham in January.
