Jermain Defoe is reportedly on the verge of a return to the Premier League with Queens Park Rangers.
The 33-year-old striker is currently plying his trade in the MLS with Toronto, whom he joined on a four-year deal back in February.
QPR were keen to land Defoe in the summer transfer window, but Toronto pulled out of the move late on.
However, struggling QPR are now hopeful of landing the England international on a three-year contract in the New Year, according to the London Evening Standard.
Defoe has played under R's boss Harry Redknapp before during spells with West Ham United, Portsmouth and Tottenham Hotspur.
