Harry Redknapp: 'Charlie Austin going nowhere'

Harry Redknapp says that QPR will hold on to in-form striker Charlie Austin and reveals plans of a contract extension for the 25-year-old.

Queens Park Rangers boss Harry Redknapp has said that the club have no intention of selling in-form hitman Charlie Austin next month.

The 25-year-old, whose contract expires in 2016, has struck seven Premier League goals in 12 outings so far and is expected to have a big say in Rangers' survival hopes this season.

With the January transfer window looming, it had been suggested that Redknapp could struggle to retain Austin's services, but the veteran manager says that negotiations over a contract extension are imminent.

"I'm sure the club would [like to extend his contract]," he told reporters. "I don't get involved in that, it's up to the chairman and [chief executive] Phil Beard.

"I'm sure everyone wants to keep Charlie here and I'm sure they'll be sitting down and talking to him."

Redknapp's side sit 18th in the table, in the relegation zone on goal difference alone.
