Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp believes that Jermain Defoe will join the club in January, despite failing with a bid for the Toronto FC player on transfer deadline day.
The 31-year-old has scored 11 goals in 16 appearances for Toronto since moving to the MLS club from Tottenham Hotspur in February.
Redknapp has revealed that Defoe wanted to join QPR, but Toronto were not willing to allow the England international to leave during the MLS season.
"There is every chance he will come in January," Redknapp told talkSPORT.
"I'm a big fan of Jermain's. Almost certainly, I think we will [go back in for him]. I've signed him so many times. I've taken him everywhere.
"We tried all day with Jermain Defoe. He was keen to come. We agreed a deal with Toronto but they wouldn't release him now."
Redknapp has previously worked with Defoe at Tottenham, West Ham United and Portsmouth.
