Former France international striker David Trezeguet has said that Angel di Maria can help Paris Saint-Germain mount a serious challenge for the Champions League trophy this season.
Di Maria could be in line to make his first start for the French champions against Bordeaux in Ligue 1 on Friday night after coming off the bench to make his debut in a 3-0 win at Monaco before the international break.
Trezeguet says that the Argentina international will be ready to step up his game after his spell at Manchester United failed to work out, and has predicted that the 27-year-old can be the man to lead them all the way in Europe.
Trezeguet told L'Equipe: "[Di Maria] will undoubtedly bring something extra to PSG. After a difficult year at Manchester United, he is thirsty for revenge. The arrival of players like him in Ligue 1 will allow the league and Paris to improve.
"It is by signing players like him that PSG will be able to break into the last four in the Champions League and target winning the trophy, like Juventus last season with Carlos Tevez."
Di Maria joined PSG for a fee of around £44m in early August to bring an unhappy 12 months at Old Trafford to an end.
