Julio Arca has revealed that he would like to continue his playing career in England.
The 32-year-old will become a free agent in June when his contract with Middlesbrough expires.
However, having spent 13 years in the North East with Sunderland and Boro, Arca has conceded that once he has returned to Argentina for treatment on his toe injury, he will try to find another club in England.
"The idea is to carry on playing. The idea is to go back home in the summer over the next couple of weeks and see if I can get this problem sorted," he told the Northern Echo.
"It might take three or four months to fix, but if I can get sorted the idea is to come back to England and try to look for a club here and I'll see if I can carry on playing for two or three years."
Arca won the Championship title with Sunderland back in 2005.
