Newcastle United have reportedly targeted a summer move for Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick.
Carrick, 34, is out of contract at the end of the season and he is yet to be offered a renewal, according to The Times.
Newcastle are therefore said to be sizing up a move for the midfielder to bring him back to his native North-East at the twilight of his career.
Carrick has made 24 appearances in all competitions this season and started United's last two Premier League games against Stoke City and Chelsea, with Morgan Schneiderlin on the bench and Bastian Schweinsteiger out injured.
