Everton boss Roberto Martinez adamant about keeping hold of Leighton Baines

Roberto Martinez insists that Everton will not sell full-back Leighton Baines in January following summer interest from Manchester United.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has insisted that the club will not budge on their stance of keeping full-back Leighton Baines at Goodison Park.

The England international was pursued by Manchester United during the summer, and there have been suggestions that David Moyes may return with a fresh bid in January.

However, as far as Martinez is concerned, the 28-year-old is an integral part of Everton's future.

The Spaniard said in a press conference this morning: "We want to have Leighton for the long-term and that will never change."

Baines is expected to be on the sidelines for any time between 10 days and six weeks with a broken toe.
