Manchester United scout William Carvalho?

Reports in England and Portugal claim that Manchester United are pursuing Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho.

Manchester United are reportedly plotting a January move for Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho.

David Moyes is believed to have sent his scouts to watch the 21-year-old in action on a number of occasions this season, including during the weekend's 0-0 draw with Porto.

The Portuguese press believes that United have watched Carvalho seven times.

It is thought that the Portuguese international has a release clause in his current contract worth £37.5m, but United would look to negotiate a cheaper deal with Sporting, according to the Daily Mail.

The Red Devils have signed Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani from the capital-based outfit in recent years.
