The president of Elche has revealed that the Spanish club have reached an agreement with Manchester United to sign Federico Macheda on a loan basis.
The 21-year-old Italian had been widely tipped to join German outfit Stuttgart for the next six months, with a view to making that move a permanent one.
However, Jose Sepulchre has now insisted that his side have entered the race to capture the striker's services.
"The agreement between the three parties is complete, but we still cannot say that the player will come because nothing has been signed yet," he told Efe.
Elche currently lead the Segunda Division by 11 points.
