Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Ruben Vinagre has said that he is not surprised to have seen Bruno Fernandes hit the ground running since his January move from Sporting Lisbon to Manchester United.
Fernandes has scored three goals and assisted four more in nine appearances for the Red Devils so far, with his form largely being credited for United's upturn in form since the turn of the year.
Vinagre played for Sporting as a youngster and continues to follow their progress, and he insists that his compatriot is worthy of the praise he has received in England so far.
"There is an unanimity around Bruno Fernandes. I think the press and the fans are fascinated with what he has demonstrated and rightly so. Bruno arrived in England, saw and won," Vinagre told Portuguese outlet Record.
"No, it didn't surprise me. I followed Sporting and it was clear that Bruno was a different player. And the truth is that he arrived here and made a big impact on the team.
"He has established himself as a Manchester United benchmark and is undoubtedly managing to play that role well."
Fernandes's performances earned him the Premier League Player of the Month award for February.
