David Moyes defends decision to send Manchester United's Wilfried Zaha on loan

Manchester United boss David Moyes defends his decision to send Wilfried Zaha on loan to Cardiff City.

Manchester United manager David Moyes is confident that he has made the right decision by sending winger Wilfried Zaha out on loan.

The England Under-21 international arrived at Old Trafford in the summer under former boss Sir Alex Ferguson from Crystal Palace for a reported £15m.

Despite the price tag, Zaha has made just four appearances under Moyes this season, which has resulted in the 21-year-old joining Cardiff City until the end of the season.

Following a positive performance from Zaha in Cardiff's 2-1 win over Norwich City last weekend, some have questioned Moyes's decision, but the Scotsman insists that he has a hoard of players vying for that position.

"At times you have to believe what the manager is seeing as well," Sky Sports News quotes Moyes as saying. "There is big competition for those wide areas.

"When I came in, I had Antonio Valencia, Nani and Ashley Young. Then we had the emergence of Adnan [Januzaj]. Shinji [Kagawa] can play off one of the sides. I have seen Wilfried training every day as well. I am privy to that.

"We might have got him on loan even earlier but for the [hamstring] injury to Nani. I just wanted to see how that was. It is good for him. It is good for his development. Everybody will have a chance to see how he plays. The idea is he shows what he can do and comes back a better player for Manchester United."

United currently sit seventh in the Premier League table.
