Michael Carrick urges Manchester United to keep the pressure on their rivals by picking up all three points.

Michael Carrick has said that Manchester United must continue to pick up points to keep the pressure on their rivals in the race for the title.

Carrick, who arrived at Old Trafford from Tottenham Hotspur in 2006, expects a tough test when Sir Alex Ferguson's side travel to White Hart Lane this afternoon. However, he insists that United will be aiming for no fewer than all three points.

"At this time of the season, it starts getting serious," he said. "Wins and draws can make a huge difference.

"You saw last week how we responded and won the game [against Norwich]. We will be looking to do the same again.

"If we get the right result and maintain the momentum, who is to know what will happen?"

United can close the gap at the top of the table to two points with a win on the road this weekend.
