Vincent Kompany ready for Manchester City return

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini expects Vincent Kompany to be fit for action in tomorrow's Champions League clash with Viktoria Plzen.

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini is confident that Vincent Kompany will be fit for tomorrow's Champions League opener against Viktoria Plzen.

The 60-year-old revealed that the Belgian international has been in full training over the past two days and expects him to be fit enough to take part at the Doosan Arena.

However, the Chilean coach said that he will not be risked if he has concerns over his fitness.

"Vincent has worked with us normally for the last two days," Pellegrini told reporters. "We will see if he is 100%. If he is, of course he will play.

"I think he will be 100%, but if he is not he will not play.

"Vincent is a very important player for us. He has been injured for about one month, but without Vincent, except for the game against Cardiff, the defence played very well. We have had three clean sheets."

The 27-year-old centre-back picked up a groin injury in the opening game of the season against Newcastle United.
