Mark Hughes believes that Stoke City deserved three points against Manchester City on Saturday, but admits that his side's end product was lacking.
Manuel Pellegrini's team were largely second best for much of the Premier League contest, but the Potters wasted several chances to seal the win.
Manager Hughes told Sky Sports News: "We just lacked that final ball or that appreciation of what was required at that key moment and weren't able to capitalise.
"As the season goes on we will continue to improve. I have a really strong group mentally and they really want to progress. Hopefully I can give them the platform to express themselves."
Stoke are currently seventh in the Premier League table with seven points from four matches.
