Manchester City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne returns to training following a hamstring injury, raising hopes that he could face Barcelona in the Champions League.

Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has returned to training following a hamstring injury.

The Belgian has been sidelined since his side's Premier League victory over Swansea City last month and had been expected to miss Tuesday's Champions League clash with Barcelona.

However, Pep Guardiola could have the playmaker available for his return to Camp Nou after De Bruyne stepped up his recovery this week.

The 25-year-old will not be available for this weekend's Premier League clash with Everton, though, as City look to return to winning ways after going into the international break off the back of a draw and defeat in De Bruyne's absence.

Captain Vincent Kompany also returned to training earlier this week, although he is still a doubt for the matches against Everton and Barca.
