Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher sparks rumours that he could leave the club in the summer to play more football.

Veteran defender Jamie Carragher has suggested that he may be forced to leave Liverpool during the summer in order to gain regular starting action.

Under new manager Brendan Rodgers, Carragher has been a virtual ever-present in cup competitions. However, he has made just two starts in the Premier League to date.

With that statistic in mind, the 34-year-old has admitted that he has had a "difficult season" so far.

"The manager's been great and tried to keep me involved but I want to start," he said. "I'm no different to any other player. Norwich was only my second start in the league this season, which is disappointing.

"I said I wouldn't complain and I'm just trying to get more starts between now and the end of the season. I've played a lot in Europe and the cups but the Premier League is the most important thing for the club and the players.

"We all want to play in it and I'm no different. I won't lie, it's been a difficult season for me in terms of starting games."

Carragher joined the Reds as a trainee back in 1990.
