Inter Milan forward Ricardo Alvarez has claimed that his side deserves to beat AC Milan in Sunday's derby at the San Siro.

The Nerazzuri, who eased past CFR Cluj in the Europa League on Thursday, are currently one point behind their third-placed rivals in the Serie A table.

"It's a unique and special game," Alvarez told the club's official website.

"Maybe we're not playing quite the way we want to be playing in the league, but considering how we've been training and how we played in Romania, we deserve to win."

Inter earned a narrow 1-0 win over their rivals when the two sides met back in October.
