The first effort of the game came from James Vaughan, who shot just over the bar following some good work from Jack Hunt after 15 minutes.

Huddersfield almost took the lead on 23 minutes after Neil Danns's cross to the far post found Sean Scannell, whose acrobatic effort produced an incredible save from Jack Butland.

The home side came close again following a corner which resulted in a scramble inside the six-yard box before eventually being cleared by the Birmingham defence.

After 37 minutes, the away side had a chance when a corner fell to Morgaro Gomis, who fired his effort straight at Alex Smithies.

Birmingham did take the lead just before half time through Callum Reilly, who stabbed home Chris Burke's cross to make it 1-0.

Some fine play from Scannell saw him beat three men on 63 minutes, though his finish was lacking as it deflected wide.

Birmingham threatened again three minutes later through Nathan Redmond, but defender Paul Dixon denied the forward.

Jermaine Beckford headed just beyond Butland's post on 82 minutes from a cross by Dixon.

Huddersfield grabbed a dramatic equaliser in the 93rd minute when Hammill broke into the box before curling a shot beyond Butland to make it 1-1.
