Roma have reportedly set their sights on signing Chelsea duo Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri.
Current Roma full-back Leonardo Spinazzola suffered an Achilles tendon injury in Italy's 2-1 victory against Belgium in the quarter-final stages of Euro 2020, which is likely to rule the defender out of action for 12 months.
Now, Jose Mourinho's new club have turned their attention to signing an alternative left-back, and they are keen on a move for both Alonso and Emerson, who are behind Ben Chilwell in the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.
The Mirror reports that Alonso is a high earner in the Chelsea squad, meaning that the Champions League winners would be keen to offload his expenses.
However, Roma could be priced out of a deal for Alonso, so may have to only pursue Emerson - who has one year left on his contract - or take up the offer of Patrick van Aanholt - who left Crystal Palace this summer at the end of his deal.
Emerson has featured 70 times for Chelsea, while Alonso joined the club two years earlier in 2016 and has made 166 appearances for the club.
