Former Chelsea captain John Terry could reportedly become an Aston Villa player this weekend.
The 36-year-old has been mulling over his options after deciding to call time on his 22-year association with Chelsea.
MLS and the Chinese Super League have been touted as possible destinations, but it seems as though a drop into the Championship could be on the cards.
Midlands rivals Birmingham City and Villa have reportedly tabled offers to Terry, and according to The Mirror, it is the latter who will win his signature.
It is believed that Villa have offered the centre-back £5m and a one-year deal that includes bonuses if the club achieve promotion to the Premier League.
The report claims that Terry is willing to play in the second tier as he wants to face a new challenge, and he could even be unveiled alongside the club's kit launch on Saturday.
The defender's contract at Chelsea expires this weekend.
