Head coach Thomas Tuchel has heaped praise on his Chelsea side after they responded to a disappointing week by thrashing Southampton by a 6-0 scoreline.
On the back of defeats to Brentford and Real Madrid, Tuchel's side were under pressure heading into their Premier League fixture at St Mary's, but they produced their most clinical performance of the campaign on the South coast.
All six goals were scored by the 54th minute, leading to Tuchel to claim that his players have delivered the perfect display, one which came two days after a detailed debrief of the Madrid loss.
Speaking to Match Of The Day, Tuchel said: "The performance changed, the commitment and the discipline. This is how we want to play and we gave an answer finally because you could see it on the scoreboard. It reflects the performance today which was very good.
"It is always a players' game but we try to prepare them as well as possible. We are always happy for players to manage the game and they did. You could see they were focused to play to the plan and we did it with concentration, commitment, hunger and of course with quality."
The Blues now hold an eight-point advantage over fifth position, the West Londoners helped by Arsenal suffering a surprise defeat at home to Brighton & Hove Albion.
