Fleetwood Town winger Matty Blair joins Cambridge United

Fleetwood Town winger Matty Blair secures a loan switch to League Two outfit Cambridge United.

Cambridge United have completed the signing of Matty Blair on loan from Fleetwood Town.

The 25-year-old winger has made 10 appearances for the Cod Army this term, but of late he has struggled to secure regular match action, which has brought about his switch to the Abbey Stadium.

"With recent injuries, it was really important that we strengthened the squad with the deadline for the loan window soon approaching. Matty is a player that we've known about for a long time," director of football Jez George told the club's official website.

"We first tried to sign him in 2011 and we've monitored his progress ever since. He has all the attributes that we look for in a wide player, as well as the character and attitude we demand in our players, and we look forward to him joining the club."

Blair, who joined Fleetwood from York City in 2013, will stay with Cambridge until January.
