Barcelona midfielder Xavi agrees a new two-year contract extension with the La Liga outfit.

Barcelona midfielder Xavi will remain at the Catalan outfit until at least 2016 after extending his contract with the club.

The 33-year-old, who came through the youth ranks at Barcelona, is widely regarded as the best central midfield player in world football.

His contract at the Camp Nou was due to expire in 2014, but the extension was announced by the La Liga leaders on Monday.

In addition to making over 600 appearances, Xavi has won six league titles, three Champions Leagues, two FIFA Club World Cups and two Copa del Rey crowns.
