Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo could reportedly be set to pen a new long-term deal with the Catalan giants.
Despite the fact that off-the-field issues have plagued Ronald Koeman's side recently, a quartet of first-team players in Clement Lenglet, Frenkie de Jong, Gerard Pique and Marc-Andre ter Stegen all recently extended their contracts at Camp Nou.
Now, Barcelona are supposedly looking to tie down another up-and-coming player, with Marca reporting that Araujo is close to penning fresh terms until 2026, with his current contract set to expire in 2023.
The report claims that negotiations between the two parties are progressing smoothly and only a few details need to be ironed out, and the 21-year-old's current release clause of €200m (£181.5m) could rise significantly.
The Uruguay international has already turned out three times for Barca this season, but was an unused substitute in Barca's two most recent defeats to Getafe and Real Madrid in La Liga.
However, with Pique suspended for the upcoming round of Champions League matches, Araujo is in contention to feature for Barcelona against Juventus on Wednesday evening.
