Ayr United have put five past 10-man Stranraer to boost their hopes of finishing in the top four in Scottish League One.

Goals from Michael Donald, Craig Malcolm, Alan Forrest and a brace from Michael Moffat gave Ayr all three points.

Frank McKeown was given his marching orders for Stranraer in the second half to compound a miserable day for Stevie Aitken's men.

Meanwhile, Arbroath stayed within touching distance at the bottom of the table with a 2-1 win over East Fife, thanks to goals from Michael Travis and Paul McManus.

Dunfermline Athletic played out a dull 0-0 draw with Stenhousemuir, while Forfar Athletic drew 1-1 with Brechin City.

Dale Hilson opened the scoring for Brechin before Andy Jackson equalised for the visitors.
