Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has heaped praise on Cesc Fabregas for the impact he has had on his career.
The England international's emergence with the North London outfit coincided with the Spaniard's return to Barcelona, with the duo only enjoying one season together at the Emirates Stadium.
However, the 21-year-old has revealed that, despite their shortlived partnership in the heart of the Gunners' midfield, he has learnt "so much" from his former teammate.
He told Esquire Weekly: "The best player I ever played with is probably Cesc Fabregas.
"I only got to play with him for a year before he went back to Barcelona but I learnt so much from him – the way he knew what he was going to do with the ball before he got it and his passing – and he scored goals.
"Also, he grew up at Arsenal – he got into the first team at a young age, which is something I wanted to do."
Wilshere played 59 minutes in England's 4-0 victory over Moldova on Friday.
