Jurgen Klinsmann: 'Scotland superior under Gordon Strachan'

Scotland are a vastly improved outfit under Gordon Strachan, according to USA coach Jurgen Klinsmann, following a goalless draw at Hampden Park last night.

USA coach Jurgen Klinsmann believes that Gordon Strachan has installed a sense of discipline and focus in his short time as Scotland boss that makes them a much better team.

Klinsmann's side were held to a goalless draw at Hampden Park last night, in a match which bore little resemblance to the 5-1 trashing Scotland suffered against the USA last summer.

Strachan has been in charge of the Tartan Army since January but Klinsmann believes that the Scotland boss has already proved his worth, seeing sure signs of progress ahead of their European Championship qualifying campaign.

He told Sky Sports News: "It was clear to see that Scotland are on the way up.

"Tonight confirmed that, they showed that they could beat you at any moment. There was no comparison between this game and the last game but we knew that would be the case.

"They are a different side, they are compact, focused and serious. They have got the message from Gordon, they are building towards the 2016 qualifiers and you could sense that tonight."

The USA will stay in Europe ahead of their next test on Tuesday, facing an Austria side which narrowly missed out on a World Cup playoff place to Sweden.
